Based on our cooperation with local association of history and regional development enthusiasts called Permon, we prepared this very special tour focusing on the historical & mining heritage of the very centre of Slovakia. Besides discovering the charm of ancient architecture in the towns of Kremnica, Banská Bystrica you will be shown UNESCO world heritage of Banská Štiavnica and Hronsek as well as unique virgin forest of Badín which was visited even by his highness Charles prince of Wales.
The tour starts and ends either at the bus or train station in Banská Bystrica or at the airport of Sliač, where you will be picked up by our guide and driver.
1 After checking in to your rooms and a short rest your guide will aquaint you with the details of the programme and take you for a walk around the charming village of Špania Dolina where you can discover different aspects of life and history of an ancient mining village. Dinner and overnight in your pension. The same as next four nights.
2 Breakfast and take off for new discoveries - short drive to 754 years old regional capital of Banská Bystrica counting 80000 inhabitants for numerous places of interest, good food and lively ancient town center. Enough time to see the virgin forest of Badín and Brusno spa for more hiking in nice environment or taking advantage of the mineral content of their waters. If still hungry for more activities, the day may be concluded by hike to a viewing point and a descent down to your village for dinner.
3 Long day, full of activities! Starts with a 50 km ride to Kremnica - another interesting mining town ? church of St.Katharine where summer organ festival takes place every year, the mint and museum of coins, geographical center of European continent, and a walk on the ridge of Kremnicke vrchy mountains. Plus interesting stops on route - Hronsek - unique wooden church that has recently been included to UNESCO world heritage list.
4 Today you may unveil the real mining - the mineralogy and geology, history of mining and medieval warship all preserved in the famous town of Banská Štiavnica that has enjoyed the status of architectural jewel in the UNESCO list much longer than any other place in Slovakia. If you discover a miners´ soul in yourself, you can still soak in thermal bath situated in the cave in a nearby spa of Sklené Teplice.

The tour can be purchased either directly with Via Carpathia - by telegraphic transfer to the account of the tour operator before the beginning of the trip or via your local travel agent.Detailed information about the tour and all arrangements will be sent to you prior to your arrival.
Cancellation fees will be imposed if you cancel the order less than 30 days before intended departure.
